I'm just looking for some general tips for using a proxy through work. I think I have it configured correctly with my proxy URL (without the http://) and port. I need a userid & password too, so I have those checked. When I check mail, Spiffy returns "Error connecting to Gmail (The remote server returned an error: (501) Not Implemented.)" What does that mean? If I don't use a proxy, I get "Error connecting to Gmail (Unable to connect to the remote server)" I guess that makes sense. And yes, I enetered my Gmail account details correctly Any idea what's going on based on the errors I'm getting?

The error message means; the server does not support the HTTP method requested by the client. That doesn't help a lot but you can double check your company's proxy url (or ip), maybe you got the wrong server?
Also when you are in a domain at work, your username for the proxy may also need the the domain name. If so, enter your username like this;
domain\username
